- The Griffiths (ll. 46-49 of the 1920 Census image) and Franny Wald (l. 32) were close family friends. George Griffith was our pastor of the Presbyterian church, and Franny was a playmate. Later when we had moved to Barron, we found the Griffiths in Rice Lake, about 12 miles away. Kathryn Griffith married Pug Lund, an all-American football player at U of Minn, which I later attended.

Evelyn Grant
(Mafalda Evelyn Di Giorgio)
- Mafalda was the current Italian princess. The parents disagreed about the order of Evelyn's given names, but her father felt so strongly that he put Mafalda first on the birth certificate without telling anyone. Evelyn didn't learn the truth until she applied for a passport in 1966.
